Abstract

Experience shows that there is one requirement needed to support the success of economic development in a region. This requirement is the solid understanding of the local government regarding the meaning of indicators and development variables as the basis for planning and evaluating policies taken by the central and regional governments. This adequate understanding will have a positive impact in the form of increasingly focused development implementation (including planning, implementation, supervision, and control activities) and an increasingly high community response in making development a success by trying to contribute to realizing the targeted goals. It is realized that in order to ensure the sustainability of economic development in the long term, it is very important to know the current conditions regarding the overall development of the region's economy as a reference in estimating future economic conditions.
